Anyone own one of these or are they worth the $499 price tag? Accuracy and problems?

I had one. It was an ok rifle, but not great. The main reason that I got rid of it was because I didn't care much for the ergonomics. The FAL was more comfortable to me.

C'mon now, didn't you search? Just a little bit?

You'd be amazed at the answers you get.

If you don't want to search - Century produced guns are a roll of the dice. With the Cetme/G3 types, the dice are loaded.

i sold my STG 58 many years ago for the fact the ammo is getting expensive . Plus i dont need a heavy semi auto in .308. tired of it anyways since i have my Garand that shoots a more powerful .3006.

Hit and miss

I have a buddy who has one and his runs flawless with Cetme mags. We tried a mod to a G-3 mag and couldn’t get it to work without problems. Not bad in the accuracy dept, 2-3 inch groups supported (not rested) at 125 yrds. It’s pretty fun to shoot, one day we put 300 rds of Wolf through it without any problems.

I also know another guy who bought one at a pawn shop for 600.00 during the "O" gun craze and it had a ground bolt, canted sight and jammed every other round.

Again, Hit and Miss.

I have one - it is an excellent rifle, but did require some fettling. Would not put anyone off purchasing, but with Century Arms, you do need to go into it with a different mindset than with a "normal" firearms company! Here's what you need to know:

Century Arms, really, are a pretty crap company, with even worse quality control. HOWEVER - the trade off is they put out some unusual, hard to get and potentially great firearms at great prices. The thing to bear in mind is - know you may have problems (but usually minor user fixable ones). Only if you can accept this, should you proceed with a purchase. These are, at the end of the day, milsurp parts guns; they should therefore not be thought of as new (although these days a lot of the parts, inc the barrel, are). If you set your expectations the same as you would want with a completely brand new firearm from a major manufacturer - you will likely be disappointed. If you flat out refuse to do any tinkering whatsoever - you will be disappointed. If you know all this ahead of time, and are moderately handy - you will learn a lot about firearms, and are likely to be thrilled you got a bargain.

If you should decide to go ahead, re the Cetme specifically - I strongly recommend you go to http://www.militaryfirearm.com/Forum/forumdisplay.php?f=23. Best Cetme website out there; do a ton of research before you buy, and you will learn everything you need to about what you are getting into.

Re your other question regarding accuracy - these rifles are generally no better or worse than the real .308 CETME/HK G3/HK91's that share the same delayed roller blowback system - typically 2-4 MOA.
