Has anyone had good luck with it in 9mm & 45auto? In 9mm I have 115 hornady xtp, Rainer ballistics 115 grain hollow point, in 45 auto l have Rainer ballistics 185grain hollow point , hornady 230 grain xtp & fmj. Not looking for load data. Just if anybody has had any luck with this powder. Thought I would post since I have got my driveway cleared of the 20 inches of snow. FUN snow shoveling!

I've had good loads in both 9 & 45.

In 9s, a variety of bullets. Lead, plated, and jacketed. 45s do best, IMO, near the max load. Too low and I get sooty cases.

All in all, CFE Pistol has been a good general medium burn-rate powder.

I just picked up a pound to try. I have put a few rounds over the chrono, and it looks pretty promising. I think Hodgdon's load/velocity numbers are pretty optimistic though.

I can not speak for 45 ACP, but for 9mm, I do like it. It is a good backup for what I usually use for 115g and 124g, which is WSF. The grains used and velocities are almost identical. Pressures vary a bit more comparing the two, but very close.

I will be switching over to CFE for .380 ACP as soon as my Bullseye runs out. It is superior to it for this caliber, in my opinion. I can not seem to find Bullseye locally anyway, but usually see CFE on the shelf.

I've been using it for a year or so in 45 acp, both jacketed and hitek coated bullets with good results. Meters very well.

What kind of case fill are you guys seeing with it? I don't care for a near full case as I don't like powder spill on my progressive when it advances.
If you have used Autocomp, it is about the same volume per load. Maybe a bit more than half to two thirds up the case wall in 9s.

BTW, you probably wouldn't like HS-6.

I haven't decided how much I like it yet...I find it a bit snappy compared to W231. I've used 5.0 grains behind a Berry's 124 RN and get 1052fps with a 20SD...decident round. Also used it in 380, but, again, snappy.

I liked it in 9mm. Close behind my favorites on WSF and Universal in 9.
In .45 it seemed to work good ok at the higher end of the charge range, shot ok but dirty on the low side. As I prefer to load .45 fun ammo lighter than the high end of the CFE-P range I prefer HP38 in .45. Fairly dense powder so case fill is less than Universal, WSF and HP38.

Yes, tends to be a snappy powder, I have used a pound of it, with a couple of more on the shelf for my various 9mm.

CFE powder for 45acp

Just chrono'd some loads for the .45 using CFE this past weekend using Berry's HBFP...alongside Titegroup and HS-6 for same pistol.

Noticable, was the tamer kick as compared to Titegroup, and the CFE filled less of the brass compared to HS-6. Agree with others that it meters pretty well! Will be buying more of it for sure!

I really like it in 9mm and 38 special. It works good in 45acp. So far have not had any issues at all with it.

I've been using it in 40 S&W and 9mm, works great in both. It burns pretty clean on the upper end of the charge scale.

Overall, I like it! Several month's ago when it reappeared on-line, I bought 10 lbs of it.

I'm a stick-in-the-mud so I haven't tried any of the new powders. I probably should since the technology is so much better now than when the powder I use were developed.

CFE Pistol

I love it for every caliber I have tried. These include 40,45 ACP and 9x19. Starting loads in 40 work very well with no soot or unburned powder. I have not chronographed any of these loads but they have all been accurate for me. YMMV.

Its a good powder. Running it with my 124gr Xtreme plinking loads. Meters through a Pro Auto Disk fairly well too.
