Casting your chamber and a 1/2" or so of your rfling can tell you a lot that you can't see unless you have a bore scope. You need to get some cerrosafe casting metal for the job, have used sulpher years ago but smeels like hell and takes more heating. Clean the chamber and bore before casting. Lightly oil and push a cotton ball down to the depth you want to check. Make a pointed V shaped funnel so you can pour it into the chamber and not where you don't want it. It melts at a very low temp, I use a cup with a spout bent out on the side for easy pouring. Follow the instruction sheet for how long to leave it in the chamber. I run a coated cleaning rod with no tip to push the casting out. Pay close attention to where the riflings stop, they should all be even around the casting. I've sent 2 rifles back to the maker in the last several months because the riflings were not even, and these were new rifles.
