I searched old threads for this question first but if I missed where this was discussed please excuse. If your carrying concealed without a permit what's the chance of getting caught. As in, if as long as I don't let it show and I don't commit a crime can the police frisk or search me if I say no? Can they pull the " you fit the description of someone we're looking for" and search me?
This is just a hypothetical question so please leave the negative remarks at the door.

I suppose it depends on your lifestyle and how you entertain yourself in public. If you frequent bars, drive aggressively, and dress in an outrageous manner, you can probably expect to be detained for any number of reasons by the police. Being detained means you will probably be 'frisked' and your weapon(s) discovered.

Well.. you're definitely gonna get caught if you have to use it.

I posted a story about something like that happening here recently.
A guy shot a killed a bum who attacked him with a knife. They ruled the shooting self defense, but they're charging the shooter with carrying without a permit. That sucks cause now the shooter will probably be unable to purchase another gun because he has that on his record.

The point is moot for me. But if I had to carry illegally, it would depend on whether the possibity of being attacked was greater than the possibility of being arrested. That's the best advice I can give.

If you carry concealed without a permit, the way most states' laws are written, you're already committing a crime. Dunno where you live, but the odds are against you.

Fact of life in the real world.

"...can the police frisk or search me if I say no?"

Whether or not an LEO wants to frisk/search depends on the circumstance. Saying no is a waste of your time--and his. You get a free ride to visit the booking counter.

"Can they pull the " you fit the description of someone we're looking for" and search me?"

If you fit the description, you betcha; it's Probable Cause. Again, free ride.

Which is why at this website we advise people to live with the laws as they are. Nobody here is ever gonna tell anybody to ignore a law.

And that's enough on the subject for tonight.
