Can I convert my Pedersoli rifle to a flint? With out changing the barrrel. Or do any carving on the stock. If it can be, would I be able to do it? I have done lock work before. But never a change over. I'm handy i do my house work good,,,,

Thank you

Flintlocks used to be converted to percussion on a regular basis. Muskets and rifles both got the percussion treatment and ever since, collectors and restorers have been reconverting them back to flint. So, it is possible.

What model do you have? Is it a drum and nipple arrangement? If so, get the appropriate flintlock and a touch hole liner. Spin out the drum, install the liner and install the lock. That is the simplest conversion. There are others ways to do it but they are a bit more complicated.

As to carving the stock... not sure I understand. You may need to inlet the new flintlock but nothing drastic, if thats what you mean. Or are you wnating to add rococco carvings to the stock?

Strawhat I have the drum. It sounds like I can. I just have to buy the lock and the touch hole linner. We had a club shoot today. And a fellow that makes his own guns. He told me the samething. And if i have trouble to bring it to his house and he would help. He told me to get it from Dixie Gun Works. Not off line but to call them and the would help. Make sure I get the right one. Said they were good folks and very helpful.
Thanks for your help, too. It will be after Christmas. I will post and let you all know how it turned out.
Thanks

Not sure where you are in Colorado but there used to be a good ML smith in Fort Collins. Granted, this was a bout 20 years ago so he may no longer be active. Check around in your area for a sutler. Another option is the Log Cabin Shop in Lodi Ohio. Great folks and been doing it longer than most.

Call and speak to Dan, Rick or Oz.
