Hi guys, am on a bit of a tight budget, I do field rifle shooting with a club gun, but want to use my own set up. I am shooting 25 and 50 yards. Does anyone have or has anyone used any of these scopes:

Tasco 6-24x42 Target $90
Barska 8-32x50 AO Varmint $105
BSA Optics 8-32x44mm $120

I just bought the Tasco 6-24x42 and find the optics to be good quality. I bought the illuminated reticule version, which was a few bucks more than the price you are posting, but I have not been able to get the illuminated feature to work yet.... So I might pass on that feature and go with the standard Target/Varmint...

I have not had good experience with Barska products in general, and many people find BSA to be a great entry level product....

At your price range go buy a Simmons Whitetail classic for $95 when it comes on sale at Midwayusa later this week (might be tomorrow they run the daily sale for it).

Of the 3 listed, id say the best option is the Tasco, but compared to the Simmons, its the Simmons all day long.

I have the tasco on my marlin 22. Shoot it out to 250 yards with room for a bit more adjustment. None of the ones you mentioned have good glass. My brother has a Barska 6-24 scope. Take them both out at dusk or in poor weather and you'll see - they get kinda foggy, especially at the higher powers.

But I prefer the Tasco to the Barska for a few reasons. The barska my brother has is 1/8 clicks for 7.5 MOA per turn of the dial, the tasco is 1/4 clicks for 15 MOA per turn of the dial (only matters if you want to use it for long range). Also, the Tasco has better adjustments and repeatability in my experience.

If you're just shooting short range, you could get a 3-9 power of better glass for the same price as these higher magnification scopes.

I have a Bushnell Banner 1.5-4.5x scope on my 10-22 and it works great, is relatively short and light (I dislike over-sized scopes for long weapons in general), and does the job nicely. I got it for $80 or so from MidwayUSA.

Leapers and BKL make ideal 22LR mounts. I use the Bushnell Sportsman 4x12 -40mm.

I do not think you should get an objective lens larger than a 40...you might have mounting problems.

Ive heard really great things about the Bushnell 10x42 scope, but it is a little out of your range at $220. Still, may be worth saving up for.

+1 on the Mueller, heard lots of good things about that one as well.

Unfortunately, I have not looked through either of these scopes.
