Cheaper Than Dirt? Shipping.... say what!

Maybe Amazon needs to start selling ammunition? I suspect they would sell A LOT with their free shipping for orders over $25.
Oh if only! I'm a real sucker for Super Saver Shipping. 'Course they'd probably up that to $100 for ammo, but I'll bet it'd be worth it!

Why can't all on line purchase just be free shipping. It is only fair for the people.

Are we entitled to fairness?

But, but, but, they told us at the occupy rally that we were.

I really like Brownell's and Midway.

I am happy to shop local when the price is right (almost never). CTD is very bad. I only ordered one thing from them that I needed and could not find anywhere else.

I understand they are a little higher and sometimes are way higher (which is when i don't buy) but why not spend that extra $5 there and support local business? We would all cry about it if they closed. You can actually see something and hold it rather than assume it will work. They can't get the prices everyone like ctd can so they have to charge some more to keep the doors open. Just a thought anyways...

They hace the PMC ammo at a dollar less per bx than I paid 2 weeks ago, that pays your shipping if you are in the market for 556.

I bought 2000 rds of CCI SV .22lr last month from CTD because they were the best deal at the time as SV was getting scarce then. I used to get it at my lgs but they haven't had it for a while.
Now, ctd, midway and brownells is out,
but I just ordered a case (5000) from SGAmmo.
Shipping for a case is $22.
I don't recall what I paid at ctd but it is less $/rd than lgs.

the whole "multiple warehouses are a benefit to the customer" angle they push kills me. its asinine. it makes it harder to look up parts than trying to find something on the Natchez website without a catalog. I received a good size gift certificate for CTD for Christmas, still havent spent it. Its the only catch22 that aggravates me more than Midway USA charging a 'handling fee' unless I buy more than $40 from them.

Take advantage of the $5 shipping that is often offerred for any purchase at places like Cabela's, Sportsman Guide, and occasionally at some of the other online/mail order merchants that offer ammunition. I recently purchased some 480 Ruger ammo and a few bricks of target 22 ammo with the $5 shipping. That probably saved me $20 in shipping costs.

I read through and didn't see anyone mention this, so I will...

A couple of years ago, when ammo was terribly tough to find, CTD had steel cased Wolf .380 FMJs for over $70 a box.

I thought it was a misprint and emailed them. A day later there was a comment...a "review"...that said that ammo was really, really great, even at that price, and you better hurry because there weren't any choices out there right now and there never would be again!

They were gouging, and taking advantage of people who had .380s and didn't know any better. I vowed never to buy from them again.

I wouldn't touch CTD with a barge pole !!! I remember when the "Obama Panic" hit and those people at that business jacked their prices over night.AIM Surplus didn't raise prices one penny, said they wouldn't,and when sold out.....they were out.I respect that.Couple of local gun shops lost my business forever over price gouging also !!

CTD

A few years ago, I was a pretty good customer of theirs. Matter of fact, they still send me their catalog on a regular basis. It goes straight into the trash. They were the worst price gougers I encountered during the ammo run 3 years ago. Now, they gouge on shipping.

Buyer beware.
