Baking soda and vinegar

As a kid I had a baking soda and vinegar rocket. You can still get them from the Nature Store emporium.
The vinegar was poured into the fuselage and a plastic cap full of the baking soda then inserted before screwing the base on and mounting it onto a launching pad/release. Shake the thing up, count 10 seconds and pull the release. It would go easily 20 feet into the air.
I demonstrated it in a freshman chemistry class and the rocket stuck into the acoustic tile on the ceiling.

(note) i did this as a kid at a farm pond under adult supervision and later on at a private range. it was loads of fun but like any thing of this nature be extremely careful.

Calcium carbide and milsurp weather balloons are fun, too.;) :D

Also, Drano + Al = hydrogen if I remeber correctly.

SaniFlush and water, Alkaseltzer+H2O, Baking soda and Vinegar

Won't mention the really dangerous stuff, just don't use a glass bottle that can require stitches. :p

If you ever are able to get some dry ice, fill up a 20oz bottle about half way or more and then fill it with water, put the lid on tight and quickly throw it away. It's pretty explosive and fun. Just kind of hard to get the dry ice.:D

Drano...

Sodium hydroxide

The later is a very strong oxidizer...

Dangerous stuff.
