Chilean Mauser "Modelo 1912"

I was at a local shop today, and they have a 7.62 NATO Chilean Model 1912 Mauser 98 for $199. I am trying to decide whether to buy it, and there is not a ton of info I can find about them on the net. I like the idea of 7.62 Nato, because I already have a .308 Saiga, and some surplus 7.62x51.
Bore and crown look good. It has the 3 lug bolt. Serial numbers do not match on the bolt, receiver, and stock, although the stock does have the Chilean emblem on it.
Markings are as follows:
Receiver SN B2783
"Modelo 1912," and on the side of the receiver Waffenfabrik Steyr Austria
On the barrel it is marked "M12 308 cal St Alb VT"

Any info or thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Looks like a fair price on that pup. As long as it is in good shape. I think the matching serial number thing is a collector type of thing. If your going to just shoot it for game or whatever I would say its an Ok price.

You might want to check over on one of the Mauser collector forums. Some of the 7.62mm conversions were done by means of some sort of drill-out and relinning process. And many were not done well. If it seems to be a new barrel go for it. If you see a pressed in liner, watch out.

CAI managed to screw the barrel in crooked on the Mauser rework I bought from them. Yes, they can even farg up a Mauser.

Make sure everything is straight, and then doublecheck again.
