After paying my fees to the man, submitting my paperwork, taking my class, and proving that I can shoot straight - and waiting 58 days - my TX CHL finally arrived.

I celebrated by going shopping at the local HEB for some low-carb ice cream - with my Browning at 4'oclock IWB.

Feels good to finally have it - something I'd been meaning to get for a long time.

Congrats, I just renewed my CCL (GA) and got it back in 7 days, I was shocked, they told me it would be a month. Only thing I've found good about living in Gwinnett County so far.

Congratulations and Good on ya!

Now stop checking your gun every two minutes! :uhoh:

We all do it at first. ;)

Ah... the CHL... some kind of ultimate responsibility. May you never have to use it. But an honorable congratulations to you, for sure. :)

Dorrin79,

Welcome to the Texas CHL Club. Use it wisely and use it often.....it is a wonderful priveledge.

I have had mine since March 2004 and I have carried daily since then. Knowing that I am legal to do so is so empowering. I am a big man, 6'6" and 275lbs. but there have been times and situations where a handgun would have made me a little more secure.

I have "infected' many others with the legal 2nd ammendment priviledge seed and it has brought forth many a bueatiful flower. I hope to spread the news to the masses.........Oh hogwash.......I am just glad that I can now "LEGALLY" carry. I have been competing and hunting with handguns for some 25 years and now I can carry without fear...........God Bless Texas!!!!

I've had mine for a week now. This morning when I got to work, I had to check twice to make sure I DIDN'T have mine. (Can't carry at work.:( ) I'm already used to having it there!

So far about all it's done for me is allowed me to keep a pistol in the car, as we're not allowed to carry at work by policy (no 30.06, but I like my job...)

This weekend I'll actually be out in public with it - and trying not to check it every 5 minutes :D

My observations so far - 1911's are really big! I have trouble finding a place in my truck that I can get to quickly that it fits in. I find this vaguely ironic since I have no problem toting it IWB ( as long as I have a cover garment on)

You will soon find yourself looking at all the decals on the doors of businesses(in Ark you can't carry if posted on door). I never noticed how many decals are on doors before I got my CHL.

Wish I were much bigger...

At 5'3" and about 105#, I have to wear VERY loose clothing to conceal the not-too-often carried Sig P-229 in the molded, cross-draw Comp-Tac holster. Oh to be as big as bigmike45...! (at that height I doubt anyone would mess with me anyway--armed or not) :D

One of my shooting buddies gives me a hard time about my "big" guns in general, and that it's too hard to conceal my particular Sig. So I wore the thing to the range one day and met him in the parking lot... after a minute or so of conversation about other things, I simply said, "...Can you see it...?" He said, "...See what...?" I said, "See? the P229 IS concealable!", and opened my overshirt. He laughed and never bugged me about it again.
