chronograph question

I am considering the purchase of a chronograph and am wondering whether or not they can be used indoors or is sunlight required ? Can they be rigged with a artificial light source ?

Incandescent lighting may work. Fluorescents will drive a chronograph nuts because it will detect the 60 hz flicker you cannot see.

I have a CED with their I.R. illuminators and battery pack. They also have incandescent illuminators for less money if you are sure to have A.C.
You can build your own for any chrono with the long incandescent bulbs used for showcases.

At least a couple of chronograph manufacturers have attachements for using lamps with their units.

Someone at my range built a plywood box the held light bulbs in just the right postion to be over the 2 sensors. Had a square hole at one end to help you aim properly. Probably only took a few bucks to make and worked like a champ.

Unfortunately, on the last cleanup day, some non-shooter couldn't figure out what it was and took it apart for the plywood!
