If that thread title gives you the willies, then you know what I felt when I stopped by BladeForums this evening and saw this thread.

At about 9:00 AM this morning, CJ Buck (pres, CEO) posted this:
Wanted to bring you all in the loop that my father is scheduled today for quadruple bypass surgery. He awoke early Thursday morning restless and sweating with low blood pressure. They went to ER and after a battery of tests scheduled him for his surgery today around 1pm.

Just after lunchtime, Chuck's wife wrote this:
We are now in the waiting room at the hospital, he was taken to "Pre-Op" and we were told that surgery would take place around 1:30 PST after they put him on the blood bypass machine. They will update us frequently through the surgery on the surgeons progress Will send you a note when the surgery is done and the surgeon talks to us.

This evening, shortly before 8:00 PM, CJ posted this:
Mom just got done talking with the doctor. Surgery went well and Chuck is in an induced coma recovering. Doc gave him 15-20 years with proper maintenance...you know the drill. Mom said the doc told her that if they had waited another couple of days he would have died. That shook her. She was in good spirits as she was surrounded by family all day in the waiting room. Will visit the ol' man tomorrow. Thanks again for all the prayers and wishes. I was passing them along throughout the day in the waiting room.

I know I'm kind of the local Buck Knives fanboi, but one of the elements in that admiration is what I know of the men who make Buck Knives tick, and Chuck is a man of real quality, as is his son CJ.

If you're a knife person, light a candle or send up a flare for Chuck and his recovery.

If you're a Buck Knives fan, make it two.

And don't be bashful about letting them know they're in your prayers. Call, write, post on the forum, drop by the factory (if you're local).

Me, I'm definitely going by the factory.

Gettin' Better

Today's update here.

Excerpt from Chuck's wife, Lori:
Everyday shows big improvement. All drainage and other tubes were
removed Sunday morning; his greatest source of post op pain. He was up
sitting in a chair yesterday though he much preferred being in bed as he
was so droopy. Couldn't get more than half a sentence out before his
eyes closed and he drifted off. I expect today he will be more alert
without so much pain medication.

He's spending more time on his feet.

That's a good thing.

More flares!
