Okay,Jonathan Ciener offers 22lr conversions for the 1911A1,Browning High Power,Glock17/19/23,and the Beretta/Taurus 92.Which is the most reliable as far as FTF,FTE,etc?Or are they all extremely reliable regardless of host gun? Thanks in advance...

I have one of their kits with a 15 round magazine on my Norinco 1911 and it works flawlessly.

I've heard from more than one place that their customer service ranges from non-existent to evasive to downright surly, but it's all been secondhand. I've never had a reason to call them.

My 1911 kit is better than my AA Glock kit, but the things I've found to be true of all of them is, they require a break-in period of at least a few hundred rounds, and you need to use hotter ammo. (I use stingers and velocitors exclusively.) The slide is heavier than the bolt on most 22lr autos, so it needs more force to cycle it. I do plan on building a dedicated frame for it with a lighter mainspring housing, I think this will make it much less finicky about ammo.

If you are going with a 1911 conversion kit I can't speak highly enough of Kimber's .22 kit. I've shot 1000's and 1000's of rounds with mine. I've worn out and replaced two magazines.

It is great. It shots just about any .22lr, but works flawlessly with any high velocity brand. I usually use winchester wildcats or Remington thunderbolts. But the federal bulk pack works very well too.

I also have a spike's tactical AR15 conversion kit. It also works awesome. I use mine on a 11.5 inch barrel, which made it initially a bit finicky (the kit is designed for standard length barrels). But, I tuned it by the companies supplied directions (cutting down the recoil spring and a couple other tricks) and if I clean if every 500 rounds it runs like a champ.

works for me

and if i could shoot that well all the time--well you all would know my name

Call them at lunch time when they let the answering machine answer. You will get a surly message. Fortunately I was able to buy mine new at a gun show from an opinionated, obnoxious, surly guy but informative and tolerable long enough to buy a kit.
