after I beded my rifle with acraglas gel and used the liquid blue release agent that come with it, what do I use to get the release agent off the epoxy and the metal?

it was my first job, worked ok, but I have some voids so I will rebed, but I assume I can't rebed over a layer of release agent.

When you fill in the voids,be sure to drill a few holes and rough up the older bedding with sandpaper to give the new gel something to adhere to.

I did that, now I have a new and bigger problem, despite using 3 coats of release agent on the screw, the action screw that goes into the recoil lug won't budge. obviously I missed a spot or it scraped off going in or something. any ideas on how to fix it? I've already tried tapping the screwdriver with a hammer and turning real hard. I bent my screwdriver.

If you have a chest type freezer, put the rifle in over night, then try loosening it again. I'm not sure it will work, but it's worth a try.

I'll try the freezer, but if I need a plan B, are there any solvents that dissolve acraglas gel? or can it be heated without scorching the stock?

I've have better luck getting most epoxy types (which is what accraglass is one type of) using heat than by using cold. Try setting a hot clothes iron (no steam needed) on top of the scope mounts and let the heat gradually heat the steel down to your problem. It might take a while but it'll get you free!

Whatever you do, if the bolt is stuck to wood don't try to force it or you'll break the wood.

That blue stuff that comes with acraglass is about the most worthless release agent you could use. Floor wax, Pam (for the kitchen), or just plain grease is better.

I've soaked parts with Acraglass in lacquer thinner overnight and the acraglass fell off in the tub. If you do that with a laminated stock, the stock will probably come apart.

well right now the freezer I found in a barn is cooling down, I"m hoping that will work and I don't ahve to resort to plans B and C, but at least now I have a B and C, thanks guys, I'll post my results when I have some.

Hope the freezer works OK. Next time try Kiwi neutral shoe polish or Johnson's Paste Wax.

well the freezer didn't work so I drilled out the screw head. the gun came apart with some gentle tapping, and the pillar was locked to the screw (by a blob about the size of a BB). A little heat and I am back in business minus the destroyed recoil lug screw. Now all I need is to find a replacement action screw to a zastava mini-mauser. 6mm screw, 1.0 threads (according to the fastenal guy) is that a standard Mauser action screw?

thanks for the tip Hog. EAA is letting me down in the customer service department (shocker!)

KRS, you were right about the heat and the included release agent being garbage. I hail you as a genius.
