Hi,

I am tired of sorting through my ammo boxes, baskets, etc. full of my cleaning and gunsmithing supplies. For example, all of my bore snakes tend to just become a gordian knot. Once I get them unknotted it takes me a while to figure out what caliber each is. Same goes for my bore brushes and swabs. I think hanging my snakes on hooks that are labeled might be a good solution.

So what do you guys do. Anybody have any good tips to help me better organize? Pics would be awesome.

Thanks

Cleaning brushes, jags, etc in a fishing tackle box in labeled compartments by caliber.

What few bore snakes I never use are coiled neatly in Zip-Lock heavy duty freezer bags in the bottom of the box.
Clearly labeled by caliber with magic-marker.

I out grew my last box. I recently got an MTM Shooting Range box for about half retail off eBay. I really like it. It has plenty of room. It does a great job of holding my heavy benchrest rifles for cleaning.

Might give you some ideas....keep most of cleaning utensils in these boxes made by Kleenbore. Everything is kept in a roll cabinet w/ball bearing slide drawers.

I use an aluminum tool box for my cleaning supplies. I think it came from Northern Tool. It also houses a few tools, like a barrel vice, hammer, punches, ect. I replaced the rivets in the hinges with 1/4 in bolts and added a handle to each end.

A shooting buddy also uses a took box, but his has a few drawers.

I made a cleaning stand with a box underneath it to hold my supplies-the stand acts as a lid and is hinged. Just used some scrap poplar I had lying around.

I think I spent $1 or so on the clamp hardware, but I had everything else.

I have a tool box something like this one:

Not that exact one but you get the idea. All my small cleaning stuff easily fits. Holds tons of patches and cleaning sticks and such in bulk in the bottom.

For my cleaners and lubes I have a large open plastic storage bins on a shelf, all open containers sit in there, like this but wider and square front and back (not angled as shown):

Here you go, MaterDei. There was no real plan to it, unless you count ripping off the clamp system from another design I saw. I didn't have a cleaning stand, and wanted one, so I made it. It keeps the gun high enough that I don't have to hunch over all the time, and I can store it under my workbench when done.

I keep smaller containers inside the box for small items, and there's plenty of room for whatever cleaning stuff I have-a can of CLP fits upright in the box.

Garage sale stuff

I scored an a Craftsman plastic, "stacker" rolling base tool box at one sale.
An old Craftsman metal stacker top-box at another. Traded later for a Kennedy box on sale.
A bunch of kitchen drawer, utensil organizers at still another.

Works great!

Todd.
