Cleaning Birds

I tried it several times Saturday. Ended up with several pairs of dove drumsticks.

Doves are too small for this.

On larger birds, put the bird on its back, then get your feet as close in to the body as you can, then pull up on the legs.

Oh, and Spider John. Great to see another Parrothead here! I had "Be good and you will be lonesome" as my signature for a long time.

Hope to be able to try this on a pheasant or two soon. Does anyone have or know of video on this method? Really love to see this done but will try it either way.

I did it on 3 grouse I shot last Sunday. Makes quick work of them. I don't have the technology for digital video, but I would be happy to snap some digital photos next time I get some birds. Hopefully it will be soon.

Digital Pic's would be great, just don't want to waste a bird by doing it wrong. All of our Pheasants are stocked birds and we don't have a long season.

Thanks

I was going to use the digital camera to show the technique on a grouse, but the last trip was a four-hour stroll uninterrupted by the presence of birds.

If tomorrow is as productive as I hope, we'll see if it works on mallards. :)
