Does anyone know how to close an account at gunbroker.com? I can't find any info on their site on how to do so. Thanks.

I don't see a way to do it online BUT it does say it will close your account for you if you report their emails as spam. Otherwise, I'd use their "Contact Us" link.

Let me just say "good luck". I tried for months to get in touch with someone via voice or email without success.

My guess is they won't do it. First of all, you'd have to prove to them it's actually you closing the account. I would just go in and remove any pertinent info that you can or replace it with bogus and let it go.

Thanks everyone for your help. My problem has been trying to get registered. Because I have a hotmail email address they wanted to charge me a dollar for verification. I put it on the back burnner for awhile to think about it. Then last night, I tried to continue further, as I decided to go ahead and pay the dollar. However, I forgot my password. So I did the changing password dance for them.

After I did what I was supposed to do, they locked me out, telling me that there was a security issue and wanted me to send them a copy of my DL and a recent utility bill. Toward the bottom on the notice, they said to contact CS for help.

I went through their links, over and over, and I never got to their email address. At this time, I'm done and just want to close out my account. :cuss:

It seems like you are trying to close an account that was never officially opened.

I use hotmail for my email with GB too. It's been quite awhile since I registered but I remember something about charging a dollar to my account. Seems to me that they need to charge an account to verify that the account is legit and that it is set up correctly.
They just don't confirm the "purchase" and after a couple of days the charge is removed from you CC.
I seem to recall that happening with a couple of other websites too.
At first I thought that it seemed strange and it bothered me a bit, but the way things are moving around the cyber world now, that has a pretty low level spot on the "things to worry about" list.

Gunbroker wants a CC and submits the $1 charge to verify its validity when you use an email address that can be obtained free and at will. I had to do the same thing even though I pay through the nose for AOL. That was a number of years ago and I never had the $1 credited back to my CC.

You know, Larry, you might be right.

Thanks.

Made me chuckle too. It was the lack of any 'emoticons' that gave the exchange a certain mirthful depth for me.

Capt. - if you would still want to get set up with GunBroker, perhaps shutting down this attempt and starting over with a new E-mail address and user name would work?
