I need to buy a few rifle carrying cases. Need some opinions on which will do the best job. Also opinions on single vs double cases.

I have always prefered cloth soft cases.
I have owned plastic soft cases in the past, but they always end up cracking or getting hard.

The plastic hard cases offer the best total protection, but take up a lot of room in the truck when used, or in the home when not in use.

I have some for pistols, but personally would not buy one in rifle, or double rifle size because of that.

Ditto what was said above. If you plan on storing your rifles for long term then use cloth cases. They need to breath. Stay away from vinyl cases. I recently bought a TC Contender frame that was stored in a vinyl case for probably a decade and it was covered in light rust. I'm just glad I was curious because the case had a $10 tag on it at a yard sale. Which I thought was expensive for a junk case until I opened it :D

Keep in mind length and profile of cases to fit around scopes, pistol grips or whatever shape your guns have. Some cases seem to be made to fit nothing but lever action, non-scoped carbines while others are overly big.
