So I've sent in all the paperwork to CMP to get one of thier "specials" (about 3 weeks ago). On Monday I got an email that said that my order had been received and to allow up to 3 weeks for my order to be processed by the sales department. They also gave me a uid/pwd for thier website. Anyway, in a fit of excitement I went to their website knowing that my order probably wouldn't be in yet and ended up going to the rifle sales part of the site and noticed that they no longer are listing the "specials".

So now for the question . . . .if they get to the point of processing your order and they are out of the rifle you ordered do they contact you and let you pick up say a service grade instead or do you have to go through the whole paperwork thing again?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Have a good one,
Dave

They'll get a hold of you and allow you the option of changing your order if they can't fill the original.

Generally speaking, you should be ok to get your original order. But, in the event you do not, you are now "on file" and the paperwork for new stuff will be minimal.

If you got your mail in during about the first week or so of the "special" Garand sales, you are probably ok. They sometimes take nearly a month to email an "order received" message (they are backed up about 3-4 weeks on orders now, service grade Garands are backed up 'till 2008).

I would venture to say that if you have not already been told "no" they likely have a rifle for you.

For more info, head over to the CMP forums at http://www.odcmp.org/new_forum/

Pay special attention to the "Ask Orest" section. Orest is the CMP Chef Operating Officer, and you will likely find that most questions you may have are already answered in that forum.

Orest has said on the forums that if you got the letter in before the Garands were taken off the sales list, you will be getting one. I too have an order in for one. What they typically do is look at all of the letters in the buckets of mail, and "guesstimate" how many orders they have to fill vs. the inventory. They did the same thing with the Infield Carbines and came up with more than the orders received on the first round of orders. They then offered up a few more on the web. Wednesday he posted that they were processing orders from Sept. 5th.

Yup, I was reading the replies . .it sounds like anything that got there before Sept 17th they send back with a "no" letter. Mine was marked "received" 9-27 but I didn't get the email from them until this last monday. I mailed it in on the 23rd . . . .I'm hoping I get lucky and fall into that last 20%. :)

Have a good one,
Dave
