coated bullets

You will like them, I've shot 1000's of them. I use 4.1gr WST for both 185gr and 200gr SWC. ~750fps out of my 1911's. I seat the bullet so there is only a thumb nail of the bullet above the mouth of the case. AOL is around 1.25", never worried about the OAL as long as the feed.

I start out each PCed bullet load work up treating them the same way I treat nekkid lead bullets. Same load data, same methods, same dimensions. If I feel it necessary I'll work up velocities and/or tweek for accuracy/function. Sometimes I get lazy and purchase PCed/coated bullets but I have PCed most of the bullet types I cast; revolver, semi-auto, rifle and even PCed a few 12 ga slugs. Yes, clean handling, clean shooting, same or slightly better velocities and on par with nekkid cast accuracy...

I have used the Hi-Tek Coated bullets from MBC for a while. I use them in my handguns (.38 Spl, .357 Magnum, .44 Spl. & .44 Magnum). I don't use them in my rifles, except for my .45-70. I stay with mid-range magnum loads using coated bullets in the magnum revolvers. If I want to shoot hot magnum loads, I will use jacketed bullets.

am thinking getting for 45 acp, 45 colt, (some of ya'll call long colt... my grandparents were old time Oklahoma lawmen, and always called em 45 colt) and 38 special

they preached to us grandkids, was no such thing as long colt

Didn't need to differentiate.........there wasn't a .45 SHORT Colt..........:)...................that's the way it was 'spained to me..

..................and................I use mostly coated bullets with good results.....

90+% of my shooting is with PC boolits

Have loaded rifles up to 2500 fps, with no problems

Cleaner to load and shoot

There is no such thing as a .32 Smith and Wesson Short, either, but the internet doesn't seem to care about THAT one.

Oh, by the way, I am loading mostly coated pistol bullets, I ran off the last of my plated .45s last month and reordered coated. Cheaper and easier to load.

I don't see home coating as a hobby, though.

when my granddads did city marshall three most popular pistols was 45 colt, 44-40, and 44 special, followed by either of the 1917's colt or smith and wesson 45 acp revolvers

thinking of ordering some 45 acp coated bullets from Missouri bullets , any one have any experience with coated bullets?
I've run thousands of their "softball" load through dozens of different 1911s and dozens of other 45's. Never had a problem with any of them. IIRC, I loaded them shorter than the usual FMJ I load, I want to say like 1.21, but don't take that as gospel.
