Coffee table gun storage

Craftsmanship? Yeah. I’ll give you that. Practical? Good lord no. And I can only imagine what it costs.

I'll give the guy A+ on Craftsmanship.

But, I used to live across the street from a guy who had modified that same coffee table in a similar way - only his you could get access to in two steps, not a half-dozen - so if I was a home invader, I would just shoot the homeowner to death while he was fiddling with that zodiac chart to expose the keywell and then pick up the coffee table, throw it in the back of the F-250 I had just stolen to come to this home invasion and work on tearing it apart at my house.

Talk about quick access!

It is a pretty cool table though.

Being a carpenter for a living if I wanted a table with quick access secret compartments I could make something even nicer but much more functional.

I keep my gun right on top of said coffee table, if I hear my front door splintering the last thing I want to do is have to consult the manual to figure out how to open my dang coffee table. It is A+ cool factor though, I could see keeping other valuables in such a table.

Not sure if it qualifies as craftsmanship, looks like a high school shop class project not fine furniture. Looks like it is made out of ill fitting 2x4's. Just because it is tricky, it doesn't make it craftsmanship.

As others have already pointed out: well built and ingenious but way too impractical (and time consuming), with the opening mechanism! When I lived by myself I use to keep a pistol on a table or nightstand with an open book on top of it. Hidden from view and quick access.

I'm in complete agreement with posts #6 and #11. What is it with the trend to furniture that looks as though it was hammered together out of shipping pallets and shaped with a dull hatchet?

Neat puzzle, but too many steps for me for gun storage.

Hidden lock is cool, but fewer steps to access would be better. Hidden key is super cool, as is the button to open the top.

It does look like a high school shop project as stated earlier, not high end wood furniture, but maybe that’s the style intended - something for the cabin not the condo...

I’d be interested to see a better finished, more sleek version with space for an AR and pistol with only 3 steps to activate the mechanism.

To me that's not being creative! If the maker was really creative, it would be much simpler and easer to access or in other words it would have a "wow" factor. However, it's a start!

Pretty neat IMHO. Table probably worth more than the guns. I did once visit a collector who had a glass, or Lexan, topped coffee table in his living room. It was filled with Mega $$$$ worth of pre War collector Colts,i.e, Governments, Pre War National Matches, a SAA or two, etc. Don't know if he had a special way of securing it, since he just opened the top to show me one of the guns.

Funny thing is I doubt that it's all that child proof as I bet most 8 or 9 year olds would be able to get into it while us old folks would still be trying to figure it out while trying to read the instructions!

Thought about the "National Treasure" connection as soon as I watched the video!

Agreed ! I've seen others like this such as a mantel over a fireplace. The top tilts up to provide access. No locks, just a simple latch. Another was a bookcase or "entertainment center" with vertical sides that were thicker and provided room for an AK/AR rifle.
