I just picked up a CS 4 max Scout because it was on sale and who doesn't like big knives? There's a hole that runs through the choil area that I can't figure out the purpose of. when folding the blade it goes past the hole so there's no way a pin or anything could go through it. Any ideas?

The answer I got on the other website was that Andrew Demko was designing a locking mechanism at the bottom of the handle and blade on a completely different knife design. Apparently Lynn Thompson liked the look so carried it over to other designs simply as an aesthetic style point. To each his own I suppose. To me it looks like something is missing.

Check aftermarket sources, some of the newer knives incorporate the hole for a pin.

The pin is added for hard use, don't want the blade folding on your hand.
