I usually carry my Ti-Lite every day in my right pocket. I have gotten a razor sharp edge on it via Arkansas stones. I really enjoy this knife as an every day carry for emergency purposes due to the materials, which would be titanium handles and an AUS 8a stilleto styled blade with only 1 edge at about 4". My question for today would be directed at people more familiar with law and law enforcement. I ponder often if this blade is a little too controversial for carry because it is a stilleto style and very pointed. What do you think? I think under my rights to protect myself I should be allowed to carry whatever knife I want (within obvious limits) however I would like to hear what people think about this knife and carrying. I also EDC my Benchmade monochrome and a Leatherman tool on my belt. When I am running around the backwoods I also carry a SOG field pup or seal pup fixed blade on my hip. My second question is, too much gear? Some people are comfortable with more than 1, some arent. I am comfortable with a pocket knife, a back up pocket knife, a small to medium belt knife and my multi-tool. I chose my current load-out because my Cold Steel Ti-Lite cost alot of money and it has a perfect blade for poking things with enough edge for cutting. My Benchmade is razor sharp with a drop point of N690 so I can get maximum cutting power with enough point on the end and my field pup/seal pup when a fixed blade strength is uncompromisable (Aus 6 for the seal pup and Aus 8 for the field pup). Obviously a leatherman tool holds many tools which are helpful for things that knives cannot do or should not be forced to do (i.e. a screwdriver, bottle opener, pliers, etc). I also toss my Cold Steel kukri machete in the truck incase i need to chop weeds/sticks out of the way to get to the river or chop something a field knife cannot handle, however, I do not carry it on me when fiddling about unless i know i will need it. Thoughts will be greatly appreciated! :)

It depends upon your local laws.

If you think it looks questionable then you may want to consider and equally effective, but more sedate looking knife.

How much gear is too much? Varies from person to person. I try to limit my load to things I realistically might need. I no longer carry, for example, a knife dedicated to defensive use. Realistically, I'll use my gun if the situation calls for lethal force and the knife is just excess weight and bulk. So, I typically carry an AG Russell yellow delrin lockback as a general purpose knife and a small SAK on my keys. There's a Victorinox Swisstool in my briefcase and another in my car, but I don't usually carry one on my person.

As far as firearms go, joe, sometimes when I am fishing I wander a long way from the car and often times don't have a firearm with me, however, I have recently been carrying my CZ 452 .22 on my shoulder with stingers and if I am on my grandfathers property I usually have my shotgun. Its sometimes hard to wade through rivers fishing and carry a rifle at the same time. Also, alot of places I fish are very public or area's that a firearm on the shoulder would be out of place, so I cant always have a thunder cannon on me or even leave it locked in the car.. Just a brief explanation as to why the knives and not always the big guns.

i bought the ti-lite when they were first made, and i regretted it. the blade didn't keep an edge well, was a pain to sharpen, and the thumbstud kept loosening up on me. i eventually threw it in my "knife box", until i gave it to my nephew. i was really disappointed, because i love every other cold steel piece that i have. that, and it's just not a practical knife; being a stiletto styled knife, it uses are limited to self defense applications. i normally buy blades that can be used for anything. i won't make that mistake again.

when i'm out and about, i generally only carry a gun and two pocket folders, a s&w sigma and the spyderco karambit and chinook II. if i need to be in the country, i carry a large fixed blade and one folder. and a cell phone, too.
