So, what time does it start?????????
'Bout noon, but come earlier if you want. Drinks, water, clays; what else could we possibly need? ;)

Looks like I spoke a little soon on the weather. It's really pleasant outside right now, and tomorrow is supposed to be the same.

Trisha started the thing off, being it was her first time here, firing the first shot shot from Billll's mortar.

The food was great. Sandy's green chili, Dr. Rob's chili. Our salsa is on the right. This is a pic of Trisha's homemade bread and the jelly Grampster sent from Michigan. Let's just say nobody left hungry.

You wouldn't think two clay pigeons would have a chance getting through this bunch:

You would be wrong.

Thanks to Boze for the lessons, a couple shotgunners came away with a few more skills. :)

Eight folks, with some taking 2 shots , and 2 clays made it through unscathed ?:scrutiny:

Then I hear it took a 28 ga to show some folks what a powdered clay looks like. :p

tsk, tsk, tsk.

For your information there is a subforum here at THR that some of you folks might want to visit :

Oh Dave!!!
We got some folks going to be showing up I suspect. :D

Keep tellin' folks 'bout that 28 gauge...will folks listen to me? Uh huh, see I might say "tump" and all, but some folks ought to pay attention from time to time...:neener:

Only cuz MrsBozemanMT wasn't down there.
I've created a monster.
We were shooting earlier with me, my wife and 1 or two others and half the time I'd be sitting there with two unshot shells. I wouldn't even see it before it was blowing up.
Oh, and she was shooting one footed, she was throwing the clays. So, pushing her foot, getting the first bird in her sights and shooting them BOTH before I, shooting low gun, could even find the first bird.

yeah, we didn't allow her to shoot shotguns when the big group went up there. She got to whip me on the dueling tree with pistols while most everyone else was shooting shotgun.

[yoda voice]A monster have I created.[/yoda] :D

MrsBozemanMT,

I sure am glad a lady was gracious enough to show them fellars how to shoot. Thank you ma'am. See- folks don't understand why I am always sharing how I like assisting ladies with shotgunning and all. Ladies make great students, and- I learn a LOT from them.

Steve.

Oh, seeing that bread , jam, and other fixin's, I gotta ask. Tell me you Eight folks eat better than you shoot? :D

So a few clays got away... it happens.

I don't know who the lucky dove hunters were... but some actual birds fell to actuals shots retrieved by actual dogs... sometimes while we were reloading (or so it seemed).

I had a blast... this is the first year I've fired my shotgun at Larry's (though I always bring it)... and while I thought I did 'ok' I was probably shooting at 25%, I still managed to go through 100 rounds in short order.

As always, a great gathering and worth the drive.

Dr.Rob,

Doves have been known to fall and have to be picked up by dogs while folks reload shotguns, seems to occur here as well...

You have that good looking BP shotgun, you should have shot it , allowing for slower follow up shots by the others...*ahem*...;)

The dove hunters were Smoke Rizen, my son Jimmy, and Jimmy's bil, Charlie. The three dogs were Charlie's half-witted Lab pup, Cricket, my half Golden Retriever, Howard (he was the 140 lb one) and my Blue Heeler, Millie.

Funny thing was, Millie was the one retrieving birds. :D

Here's a scary picture:

Well in defense of us clay shooters, several of us were newbies (I haven't shot at clay pigeons since I was in my early teens, and I don't recall being very good then either). Justin was also a bit of a newbie ... all the IPSC style stuff he shoots, I think he's used to being the one moving, not the target (that and his Franchi was running on not enough lube).

MrsBozemanMT definitely put us all to shame (including MrBozemanMT :p ). I'm just glad she's on our side :what:

Anyway, I'd never been all that intersted in clays, but I must admit to being bitten by the clay-bug a little bit (but then again every time I try some new form of shooting I get "bit by the bug" ... what can I say ... I like stuff that goes BANG! ... I think if I take up the habit I'll need something other than the Saiga ... any excuse to buy new guns :p ).

Well Larry, if the S ever hits the F it looks like you got someone for overwatch :D

Methinks I have just been chastised... and rightfully so. I just LIKE making my pump gun go rat-a-ta-tat.

I thought about bringing a double, but not my Pedersoli. Maybe next time. it's awfully slow to load.

Here's a scary picture:

Not to me it is not. :) Of course I am a lot of "help" . :D

I am glad you folks had a good time and the weather was nice. I am teasing and messing you that attended.

I talked to Larry , so I have a run-down on what all happened. Be nice to me. :p

Why I even know Standing Wolf shot a 28 ga shotgun. :)

Of course I keep gravitating back to the pictures of Trisha's Bread ,grampster's jam, Dr.Rob's Chili, Sandy's Salsa ... :yummy:

THRs Misson Statement in Action - thanks for sharing everyone.

One thing I DO keep forgetting to mention. Mea culpa, because its important.

This is the fourth year we have hosted this thing, and we have never had a safety violation, hulls and brass are always policed up, and cleanup consists only of putting a few chairs and tables away.

The Colorado group typifies gun owners, I hope, and you are all true HighRoaders, as far as I'm concerned.

You are all welcome on my place, anytime. I mean that.

Well, Larry, you and the Mrs are a pretty darn good hosts too ... plus you did a good job getting your order in for the perfect weather. ;)

Over the years I've found that gun folk are just a cut above the rest of the rabble. (maybe thats how that "an armed society is a polite society" thing works).

One of the things I love about our get togethers are how EVERYONE is packing ... I can just imagine some bliss ninny showing up and realizing there's a gun on every hip and hyperventelating or outright fainting. But honestly I felt perfectly comfortable with every single one of the good people who show up at these things "packing heat" (and honestly think the rest of society is better off because of it).

Now all of the sudden I just realized I didn't police my shotgun hulls ... oops :uhoh:

We were supposed to pick up the brass?????/
uhoh.
opps.
:uhoh:

Uh honey, did you pick up the brass??????//

Were we supposed to pick up the clays too?
Cuz that's going to be a lot of work. :D

Thanks Larry, really appreciate it.

It doesn't matter who policed up the hulls, somebody did. I didn't even police up my own, except the 28 ga (which are made of gold).

Here's a pic Trisha sent me, BRASSM defending the ole homestead with Trisha's Desert Eagle: :D

Soundtrack: Little Pink houses...- Mellencamp

Someone : "Here is my gun."
Trisha : "That is not a gun , THIS is a gun!" :D

How close am in guessing that Trisha had the largest caliber CCW? :p

BRASSM, has attended before IIRC, glad he made it out again.

Where are Cops? Did you not get the cops to show up this year? :neener:
