Hope you all don't mind answering a question about something out of the ordinary! :) Does anyone know if Colt made any 1862 Army Police Revolvers .36 cal. in the late 1970's or early 1980's? I know they made limited runs of some of their older and famous black powder revolvers. I have got a interest in one of these revolvers from days gone by. Can I get a real Colt repo. or will I have to settle for a Uberti? Thanks for any information! :)

The "Colt" reissues were made in Italy.

Thanks for that info. Standing Wolf! Since Uberti was the only game I am aware of in Italy at the time then the Colt's are actually Uberti's anyway?

There are a ton of other manufacturers in Italy. Pietta, San Marco something, and Palmetto come to mind. I have no idea if the Signature Series guns were made by Colt or someone else. You might get more answers on the black powder forum, though.

Colt put together some beautiful blackpowder firearms in the 70's including some
.36 caliber pieces. My local gunstore expert, we all know what thats worth, told
me that the parts came from Italy but the firearms were assembled and finished
in the US by Colt.

The ones that I looked at the time sure seemed to be up to the Colt reputation,
particularly the bluing.

I've wanted one of their Pocket Police models but never could find one at the same
time that I had the money to spend on one. I'm still looking.

The original line of Colt blackpowder reproductions were assembled in the United States by Colt sub-contractors, using Italian (Uberti) parts. The 1862 Police model was among those offered, but they were made in smaller quantites and are seen less often.
