Colt 1877 with saa grip

If it shipped from the factory with hard rubber grips and the original birds head backstrap the letter won't say anything because they all shipped that way.

As I recall, a gunsmith back in the 'Twenties (NINTEEN Twenties) made up a number of DA Colts in this way, with Single Action grip straps, and some converted to .22 L.R. But these gripstraps appear to be brass, while he used steel. This appears to be done by a hobby gunsmith.

Aha! Someone on the Colt Forum came to my aid. The 'smith I had in mind was Alonso Crull, of Wabash, Indiana, who made these in in the 'Thirties and 'Forties.

For the post, go to Coltforum.com/Lounge/Custom M1877 DA Colt. The photo will dazzle yore eyeballs!

Thanks mate, I personally like the look of the 1877 with that sort of grip, I know from a bit of reading the original grip is supposed to be most comfortable for double action use, thank you for ur vast knowledge, no one knows that sort of stuff here down under
