I recently posted about finding one of my Grail Guns. A Colt 1917 .45.

The 1917, New Service frame is a tough one to find a holster for unless you want a military style flap holster.

Lewie at Steel Hide Leather Co. Made me a custom holster for the 1917. Perfect fit, very comfortable, top quality and 100% American made.

The are on Facebook and Etsy if you need a custom holster, reasonably priced with a quick turnaround.

I'm guessing you hook your lunches with bear paws if you find shooting that thing to be comfortable. I wear 2XL gloves and my 1917 Colt's trigger is almost within reach.

Very cool! It's a real shame they've been out of production so long. Would've been interesting to see them go through the .44Mag revolution. I don't know why I only have one, would still like to have a 1917 and a New Service in .44Spl.

The Colt New Service/1917 presents a challenge if the leathermaker does not have one and I've never seen a mold. They're roughly the size of the Redhawk but with a thinner top strap. A properly fitted N-frame holster will be too small and a Redhawk holster will be a bit too roomy at the top.

I made a Slim Jim for my 7.5" .38-40.
