I have a chance to get a used, vintage but not military, a2 stock without the buffer tube assembly for about 20 bucks. I want to put an a2 on my carbine which has a magpul MOE collapsible on it now. If I go with this stock and buy a random buffer tube assembly I will be right back in the same price point as some of the new A2 kits out there. Should i just skip it, or am i missing something? Is it worth the $20

I already have an MOE rifle stock on another gun. I'm beginning to see this more as a cheap trial to see which i prefer. I will haggle and try to bundle. They have plenty used parts half off to free up space, and half off is half off of their used price, which is half of new price usually.

Then again every time I go there and leave empty handed, what I go back for is sold before I get back to it.

I have both A2 fixed stocks and collapsible stocks on ARs. I really like the fixed stock for myself. I find that the collapsible stock is usually adjusted to the same length anyway. BUT I have nephews and also my daughter that appreciate the adjustment to a shorter LOP. So I will keep one on for them.

If you already have a gun with a rifle buffer tube, I'd give it a shot. I did some shopping for A2 stock shells when I was building a rifle lower, and they are surprisingly hard to find on their own.
