Hey yall. Almost a year ago I purchased a Colt CCG 1911 and have never posted pics nor did I ever give any feedback on my experiences with it. This has been my carry gun ever since purchase, and wouldn't trade it for anything. I have never experienced any malfunction other than a handful related to the POS Colt 8 round magazine (flush fit). So far I estimate I have ran approximately 5-600 rounds through it, again with no malfunctions other than those I determined were related to the above magazine. This 1911 continues to amaze me at how accurate it is. It is literally POA/POI anywhere to 25 yards. I did have my smith install a nighthawk medium length trigger, and adjust the trigger pull.....which is around 4-4.5 pounds, and extremely smooth. Anyway, enough talkin'.....

Nice Colt! Thanks for the review and the great pictures! I still love my Colt Government Model Series '70 bought new in 1976 and my old 870 Wingmaster bought in 1977. Both are keepers like yours!

Sweet! That's one very nice Custom Carry Government! It has just the right amount of custom features in a very clean, business-like package. My version of a Colt CCG would be my Lightweight Government. Great balance, easy to acquire sights, and a smooth light trigger; all in a lighter weight Government format.

I've got 4 Wilson 47D's, 2 7rnd Colt, 2 Brownells marked MetalForm mags, and a MetalForm Pro Series 8rnd Stainless mag (which the gun came with)......and all run flawless.

Congrats.

You're packing the original American-made 1911 - ... which is a Colt for the historically unawares here.

Best part? It's not a domestic one-off clone, nor an no off-shore Asiatic/Chi-Com parts cheapo-crap build.

Israeli SF operators would use your Colt if they could.

Real nice gun and more important glad it has worked out well for you. The 1911 seems to be one of those love it or dislike it guns and I would fall into the first group. I always had a weakness for the Colt guns. :) Hope you enjoy it for many, many years.

Me too, mostly because when I was growing up Colt Governments were basically the only game in town; especially if you were looking for a new 1911. And for the most part they were few and far between and hard to come by. Yes there were Llamas, Stars, and the occasional Ballester Molina but if you wanted a genuine 1911 it was going to have to be a Colt.

Same here, at 66 those are the guns I grew up surrounded with. :)
