Greetings - I am seeing Colt Competition CRX-16 Gen2 16" Bbl. 5.56mm Carbines in a couple different places on the internet selling for about $800 delivered. They are New in Box and 'optics ready'.
Yes, a longer barrel would be better for serious distance shooting, but the price on these 16" barrel rifles seems reasonable to me for my use out to a little over 100 yards. With AR15 prices dropping after the election I have been looking to add a Colt to my meager collection. I am tempted by the CRX-16, even though Colt Competition apparently went out of business this year. At my age, I will never shoot it enough to wear it out, so lack of a chrome lined barrel is not a big deterrent.
Any comments will be appreciated, especially from those with experience on the CRX-16.
