Cameron... great pics, great gun. The new Colts are really nice guns... I've got a BUNCH of 'em and really love 'em. I also have a few Kimber series 1's and a few Springfields.
Those who bad mouth the new Colts are either ignorant, irresponsible, immature, just have an ax to grind, are trying to be irritating to others, or all of the above. Of course as with ANY gun from ANY maker, there are occasional lemons... and Colt is no better than any other brand in this regard. But it is a fact that the new production Colts are great pistols with an out of the box reliability that few other 1911 brands can match. I know this from first hand experience, not hearsay. And the Series 80 trigger is just fine, nearly iimpossible to tell from a series 70 trigger all other factors being equal. And in the hands of an action specialist, they can be made into fantastic as well.
SO those who don't know, be wary of people who say Series 80 Colts don't have good triggers... it's nonsense. 1911Tuner probably knows 1911's as well, if not better, than anyone else on this forum... you can take his experience and knowledge to the bank.
New Colts aren't easy to find, but when you find them, it's a wonderful find indeed. The feel is unmistakeable... strange as it sounds. The reliability is fantastic. THe history and charisma is wonderful.
Here's another recent production 1991A1, this time in stainless. I paid about $625 for it new. It did come with a long polymer trigger and I much prefer short triggers made of steel... so I switched mine out as well as switching to an arched MSH, my preference. Fit, finish, feel, accuracy, and reliability are wonderful!
