I've saved for quite a while an am looking into some LEGIT Ivory or Pearl grips for my 1911. Problem is, I don't A - know who offers such a high dollar item and B - who to trust with what I'm getting is legit. Suggestions? Thanks. Title meant to say Pearl/Ivory grips...shows what's on my mind. Haha

There's all sorts of different types of ivory so the prices range from $200-$1000 or so per pair depending on what type of ivory and the quality/looks of it. There are plenty of sellers on gunbroker with good ratings that sell legal ivory regularly. Heck, even my local Cabelas has a couple of pairs in their gun library room for $300-$400. If the deal looks too good to be true, it probably is.

Ivory not ment to be a carry every day thing If going to do that get the fake ivory it looks good can get some that looks aged and will stand up

you're lucky in that the 1911 only requires a thin slab of material for a panel and the 2 sides are separated enough that you don't have to worry about matching "grain".

i like the idea of searching for scraps from ivory workers and having the grips made

Ivory not ment to be a carry every day thing

why not, they seem to hold up well as knife handles and chopsticks for everyday use

This will NOT be a carry gun. This is just a fun project. It'd probably hold up to light carry but by no means do I intend that.

That would sure be shocking news to Gen. George Patten, and a lot of other old-time western lawmen and bad men.

Ivory SAA grips & knife handles for everyday carry was almost something the old timers had to have if they could afford it.
