Colt King Cobra in .22LR

Yes, but at $999.00..... That's a lot of cash for a .22LR revolver!
Yes and no, as posted, it's still a fine revolver, it's just in .22 LR which for some reason some folks think they can be made more cheaply than that same fine revolver in another caliber.

I have a .22 rifle I paid more than that for. ;)

It's kind of like what floats your boat, obviously a 1K .22 revolver doesn't float your boat, and that's OK, but it floats quite a few folk's boats.

Good point, I have no idea how well the .22 Cobra shoots, but it better be small for 1K.

Smith & Wesson Model 41s are going for over $1,400.

And yes, one can find a semi-auto centerfire pistol for much less – but again, that’s irrelevant for someone seeking a .22 LR semi-auto.

IMHO they are art. Just look how pretty they are.....but........

Why on gods green earth did you stick that black plastic grip on them. Think how much better the thing would look with wood.

I guess we needed those grips for that harsh recoil of 22 rim fire.

Very high on my list, then before I am likely to shoot it once it would get new grips.

Yes, but have you checked the price of a current production S&W 617 lately? A paltry $959,

I wouldn't sell my elderly Combat Masterpiece for $999. Or $1999. Because I could not count on getting its equal for any price. I don't think Korth makes .22s any more.

The same amount of work and materials go into both a centerfire and a rimfire, but for some reason folks just expect the RF to cost less.

This, and overlooked by most. Quality costs no matter what caliber. Production costs are higher for a low production item also which the 22 King Cobra seems to be.

I haven't run across a 22 King Cobra yet and kind of hope I never do. It would just be wasted money for a shaky geezer like me. I can miss very well with lower prices guns. :( I must say the "King Cobra" name is off putting to me. It is a 22 rimfire for pete's sake. A king Cobra is a big, bad, snake with a very lethal bite. Something like Copperhead would have a better fit IMO. I gave my son a Diamondback for Christmas many years ago and thought it was the perfect name for a 22 revolver. Too bad it is the name of a rather cheap 22 now.

And good luck if you're able to find clean specimens of the old pre-lock/pre-MIM Smiths in .22LR, such as the 34, 43, 63, 17, etc. - they're going for quite the premium these days.

It's good to have choices.
What's the appeal of a superior DA trigger on a large revolver in a small caliber you're not likely to carry?

Speaking only for myself, but my D/A revolvers get fired in D/A 99.9% of the time. Therefore a good D/A trigger, even on a rimfire is preferred.
I love all of my K frame 22s. All have great D/A triggers.

Congratulations on finding one! For ages I read about the King Cobra .22’s, but I never saw one anywhere. I really wanted one, but I got frustrated after months and months of waiting for one to appear. So, I bought a 6” S&W 617 instead.

The DA trigger on the 617 isn’t the best, which is disappointing because the DA (and SA) on my Models 17 and 18 are great.

I will pick up a Python revolver at some point. I really like the looks and feel of those revolvers, and the 4” stainless Python I shot regularly back when I was in college was a tack driver.

Stay safe.

Heck, the Cobra .38 Special is only $699!
Yep my LGS had the KC Target .22 one in stock this week. I fondled it for a bit but $999 for .22 nah not worth it. I got the KC Target in .38/.357 for less than that and oh so much more fun to shoot even with full house .357. To each his own though...
