Could anyone give me a ballpark figure of what a 6 1/2 inch stainless like new King Cobra is worth. This is in Cali if that makes a difference. Thanks

Are you sure she's a 6.5 inch tube ?
I don't recall ever seeing one. 6 & 8 is the long tube version of the King Cobra.

Is it a bright (polished) finish or a satin (brushed) finish ?

Texas gave you the ballpark.
Although finding one for $400 is very tough to do. I would say around $500 is where most are going. Polished seems to be harder to find and may draw an extra $50. Polished Mint with box & papers should bring you right around the $600 mark.
Check that tube length, you may have an oddball.

I passed on a 4 inch King Cobra in stainless for $350 :banghead:

They are worth a bit more than that. NIB I'd say $450-500, it's still not a Python.

If it's legal to buy in the People's Republic of California, it could be worth $100 more than it'd be worth in the United States.

The King Cobra isn't a Python, no, but both I've shot were very impressive revolvers. I wouldn't mind having one.

Thanks for the replies.

It is a gun my son got from his father in law. He asked if I would buy it from him because he needs some money. But, he said Turner's claims it should sell for about $1000. I haven't seen it for awhile. But I believe it is satin stainless. Very nice gun, but I haven't shot it. I am not sure about the length. My son said 6 1/2 but it could easily be 6.

Since it is already in California, it can be transfered. I wonder if it makes it worth more because it is in California. I will check GunBroker.

It's been about 30 years since I shot my dads nickled Python.

Worth more due to it being able to be tranfered in Cali.... Yes
6 inch King Cobra worth $1000... NO WAY

According to my sources the Colt Blue King Cobra came in 3 sizes 2 1/2 in (1990), 4 or 6 inch price $495 Mfg 1986-92.

Stainless came in the following 2inch (mfg 1988-94), 4,6 or 8 (mfg 1990-94) later on the made a 2 1/2 inch in late 1987-1992 production started back up in 1994 only to be disc in 1998 price $590-550

Ultimate bright stainless 2 1/2 ,(1990) ,4, 6, 8 (1991) Mfg 1988-92 price $625-595 hope this helps........:D

Thanks again for the replies.

Sounds like I would be offering him plenty at $600. Bargin for him - not so much for me. Except, when I "loan" him money I have trouble getting repaid :scrutiny: . At least this way I would end up with a "new" gun.

I'm just saying getting OVER the $600 price tag is straying into $800+ "Python" territory.

It's still a solid revolver.

Turners not surprisingly gave some dumb advice. A $1000 King Cobra even in CA will sit for a long time if not forever. I see used Pythons sit in CA for the same price.

I saw a SS King Cobra for dale in CA for $400 recently but it sold very quickly. Get this, I sold one at $200 in CA in 1999! Didn't even lose money on the deal! Long story, but it involved an insurance company and the gun possibly having been stolen at one point and I just wanted rid of it.

Not a Python by any means, but still a very strong good gun.
