I just found out my Dad is giving me my Grandfather's Colt Model 1908 for my birthday :)

Anybody got one. What can you guys tell me about it?

Then forget everything I posted because I thought you had a .380 Pocket Model, where you in fact have an entirely different .25 Vest Pocket Model.

If you are going to carry or shoot it you should still change out the firing pin, magazine and recoil springs.

Because the firing pin also acts as an ejector, be very careful when hand ejecting chambered live rounds. It is best to turn the pistol sideways and slowly pull the slide backwards. Also don't dry fire it without something in the chamber (an empty, fired cartridge case or snap-cap for example) or you'll risk breaking off the long nose on the firing pin.

1. FN 1905/1906 .25 ACP magazines will work. "Baby Browning"/Baer .25 magazines will NOT work.
2. Don't cycle live ammo through the pistol unless you're on the firing line loading it. The firing pin/striker acts as the ejector.
