I doubt I will ever part with mine
. It's been reliable with good accuracy. It can be a little heavy at times (mine is not a lightweight version), but it conceals rather easily. There has been/is concern voiced about the small tab that holds the recoil plug in place (discussion here). Early on, I replaced mine with a Clark reverse plug that I modified, an EGW bushing, EGW FLGR and a ISMI flat wire spring. The OEM setup never gave me any problems, but I wanted to try the ISMI spring. The setup I came up with allows me to do so and requires no modification to the pistol. My front sight did come loose and I replaced it and the rear with a Millet setup.

Amazing .45...There has been criticism on these forums that any 1911 barrel less than Commander size is asking for trouble. Hasn't happened! My primary carry in cooler weather with outer garment. I have the heavy version and can be quite a chore for summer carry. After 1,500 rds, not ONE HICCUP!...Keep it clean and lubed; you'll be okay.
The stainless Officer was my first pistol. It is definately heavy and has a sharp, but not unreasonable, recoil. Mine has had work done to it... but is still not 100% reliable. It was a gift from my father years ago so I will keep it forever, but probably won't really carry it again. I have had a variety of failures with a variety of factory and hand loads with a variety of magazines (including Wilsons).
It is definately my nicest carry gun. Best looking... and least realiable. The three Colt's I have ever owned (Officer, Gunsite, AR-15) have all had reliabilty problems.
That said I am now looking to buy an XSE.
If the Officer model you are looking at is reliable, then the only possible downside is the weight.
