I have a chance to buy an early 70's Colt Python. I was wondering do the Pythons from that era have the full lug under barrel and that sight rail on top of the barrel? The gun comes with original box and the lady told me that it is in great shape and appears to have not been fired.
The irresistible part is: she wants $899 for it. Is that price as good as I think it is? It was her late husband's. Also, it is blue (Royal blue I hope), I have not seen it yet. I'll see it Monday.
Will I be getting a good deal?

All Pythons have a full lug and vent rib. All blue Pythons are called Royal.. As described, that price is about half what they currently bring in most places.

Regardless, take pity on the poor old widow and give her a grand!

Around here a NIB Python, or even a lightly used one with the box and papers will be tagged at two grand plus.

I've never asked what they'll actually sell for.

Last minute reminder, for the peace of mind. Check the lockup, look through the muzzle into the chambers if they look centered, note the rifling and any dings, take the grips of to see the mainspring assembly. All in 5 min

It is freshly polished with Flitz and waiting for the next range trip.

While on the subject of luscious old Colts...have a question. Anyone know what an Officer's Model Match 6 inch 38 in excellent shape is going for now? We will not even talk about the nickel Python I sold several years ago....thanks
