IMO Colt OMs are the best bargain out there right now. To me they are just as nice as their S&W counterparts. Plenty of high condition ones on the market. Just picked up an excellent condition .22 OM Special for $550 and it shoots so nice in both single and DA. Sooner or later they will make true collector status....I hope, or maybe don't hope. Arguably the best Colt ever produced.

I paid 7-ish a couple years ago, but it's in great shape and they don't pop up here that often for some reason, so I feel pretty good about it.

Now that you mention it, I haven’t seen one in 7 years. The last time I saw brand new Colt SAA’s was 2017. A gent had bought a matching pair for cowboy action shooting.
He brought those 2 guns out like he was Vanna White displaying vowels on Wheel of Fortune. There were lots of oohs and awes.

My buddy had a newish blued 6" SAA at his shop recently. It was LNIB and I coulda had it for $2G, but I dont wanna stock .45LC. If it had been a .357, I probably would have put it on layaway......oh well.

some righ guys middle school kid probably got it as a birthday present. hey, good for them. you can probably find a way better one for less if you're patient about it. the doulbe action is a better pistol, functionally IMHO, so - to me that is the better deal anyway. if I found one for what you paid, I might pick one up, but not actively searching one out.

I paid hundreds less for a nice nickel 2nd gen .357 in its original box a few years ago, and $2k for a mint nickel 3rd gen around the same time, so that's my frame of reference.

That's pre-war carbona bluing, ain't nothin' like it. To me it's just more pleasing than modern hot salt blue. Only place I know of to get it now is Turnbull.

Indeed. My 1933 Police Positive Special may never have been fired. The bluing is... quite blue. And pretty much perfect.

that Old blueing is special! Love the Old Smith bluing too!

I just can’t figure why they can’t do this today. Set up a OverSeas company if they had to.

I prefer Colts to say Smith or Ruger. All fine handguns though in their own right. Originals though are damned expensive. Thank goodness for quality reproductions.
