As you probably have seen, asking prices are well beyond $1,000 and more
toward $2,000 or more. I don't think any guide actually exists; it is merely what
someone is willing to pay for a fine but out of production Colt.

I think it's silly that some seek prices in the realm of very decent
Pythons of the same or earlier era.

If you have the gun and all the papers, original box I imagine
$1,500 might a REASONABLE PRICE for some buyers.

At the time the King Cobra was what I look at as Colt's last
gasp to stay in the revolver market and be an affordable
alternative to the S&W 686.

$1076 on the low end to $1499 on the high end. This is throwing out the one that sold for $2205 and one that sold $13,000.

With gunbroker you want to look at completed auctions - by bids, high bid count to low bid count. Bids means the gun sold. No bids or a current unsold auction doesn't tell you anything for value. Anyone can list a gun for any reasonable or unreasonable price on Gunbroker.

I've seen both reasonable and totally stupid prices. Best bet is just to watch em when you see em on the broker, etc.
I recent passed on a Trooper Mark III, 8", 22 magnum because I seen a 6" with box and papers go for a bit less than what was being asked for the 8" without.
Then the joker at the show a month ago with the real nice python with all the stuff.....I reckon I could get a super nice Freedom Arms or a Korth for the number he had on that.....

Agreed, everything is worth what someone will pay for it- regardless of what a book says.

I will say that I would expect a mint, vintage, 6", SS King Cobra to have $15-1700 on the tag at a gunshop or show in my local area. They are asking significantly more for the blued examples- $19-2300.
