I am looking for information on this gun and a ballpark value if possible.
This piece was a factory purchase by a former Colt V.P. in 1956. I have paperwork.
It appears to have been part of the last production run of 1st gen. ~1940-47.
I can only speculate that it was sitting in Colt inventory after the War and around the time the 2nd gen. production started when the Gentleman purchased several in this serial range.
It doesn't appear to have a "Colt" mark on it. It does have a Miroku mark on bottom of grip.
Any help, questions or comments welcome. Thanks.

This Gentleman was a VP at Colt ~1936-1956+. He was also at Savage Arms in the 1960's-70's and had a number of pieces via suppliers such as Miroku and Valmet.
Why would these gun(s) be serialized in line with Colt's s.n. system, yet not be marked Colt even though they resided at Colt and were purchased through Colt?

That invoice has nothing to do with that gun. That invoice is for several Colt Single Action Army revolvers in .38 Special with 5.5" barrels all with S/Ns in the 357XXX range. Your gun is not a Colt SAA (Single Action Army), It is a Miroku Special Police S/N 172 . It doesn't even resemble a Single Action Army.

It would appear that someone put photocopies of actual colt paperwork with a random gun. The paperwork clearly states “Colt SAA with 5 1/2inch barrel 38 Colt.” That gun you have pictured is not a Colt Single Action Army, not in 38 colt, and I don’t believe has a 5 1/2in barrel from the look of it. Also none of the serial numbers on the paper match the gun you have. As stated above.

The gun pictured is a Japanese copy of a Colt Special Police in 38 Special.

The owner may have imported some guns from japan but they have nothing to do with colt or savage.

Yeah, the light bulb is beginning to glow...
The gun and paper are not related at all.
This is a case of mis-matched estate stuff.
I'll straighten it out. Thank you for the replies.

I watched the video and what the reviewer said was my take on it. I have Moroku made guns and they are all top notch. The fit and finish on mine are fantastic and they are very accurate.
I wouldn't be afraid to buy that revolver you posted about at that price at all.
I would buy it over a Colt Police Positive if they both were listed at the same price and condition.

It seems to me that if Miroku marketed this revolver again today for a reasonable price it would sell like hotcakes. Just change that firing pin to an original Colt flat style for strength and return to the original Colt style front sight.

Maybe what was originally in the box was a Colt SAA, and someone took that out and put the Miroku inside.

Nevermind. Miroku makes good firearms. The bluing on yours looks every bit as good as contemporary Colts. Possible that Colt acquired several in pursuit of trademark violation litigation against Miroku and the exec in question ended up with one. Enjoy.

I have a couple of Mirokus. They are well-made and excellent shooters. They aren't worth very much, though. Apparently not many Americans have heard of them.

Mine have the serial numbers in the same spot.
