Colt Signature Series 1851 Pocket Navy

Yesterday while at my favorite gun shop, while leaving I noticed a NEW IN THE BOX Colt Signature Series 1851 Pocket Navy. It had a 450.00 price tag in it. Is that a good deal?
I've heard that the Signature Series are inferior?
Anybody got any experience with the Signature Series?

First, there was no 1851 Pocket navy. There was an 1862 Pocket Navy and an 1851 Navy. And no, the Signature Series wasn't inferior it was just not as good as the 2nd Generation according to some folks. I personally think $450 is a good price.

Does the 1862 have a short octagon barrel? If so, that's what it is then, with silver back strap and trigger guard and nice walnut grips

I would say that is a fair price for the Signature revolver.
There was the 1851 Navy, 1861 Navy (looks like the 1860 Army), and the 1862 Pocket Navy. All are .36 caliber.

And then there is the 1849 Pocket Model in .31 caliber.

The 1862 Pocket Navy and 1862 Pocket Police are very nice. They are scaled down versions of their big brothers.

Are they built better than regular Uberties? I'm kinds spoiled because I have a Belgian 1860 Colt and it's TOP NOTCH

I have some Uberti and some 2nd Gen Colts as well as some Signature Colts. I think I am fortunate. I don't have a single complaint about any of them.

My Belgian Colt needs a part right now... But it is a fine revolver.

They're great shooters, Avatar!!!! And $450.00 sounds like a good price. But, if you notice most people and I mean 95% or better don't even shoot them. Most ads for 3rd Generation Colts have, "Never been fired", "Never been turned", "Never been cocked" or "Never been out of the box" descriptions.
But Lou Imperator builds a beautiful firearm.

Oh, we noticed your ad about your 1860 Army you have for sale and I would have bought it straight up but I just bought a 2nd generation 51' Navy with box and all and I just can't swing another right now.

Here is my latest purchase, a 2nd Generation 'F' Series Colt.

The first "signature series" gun I bought (an 1851 Navy) was total junk, so bad I returned it. I did later buy an 1861 Navy that was OK.

Thank You Sir!!! But I'd look into that Pocket Navy, they have the real small Pocket sized frames and are real sweet to handle like the '62 Police.

Here is a side by side comparison between the frames sizes of the '62 Police/Navy and a '51 Navy.

Avatarshots - $450 is a good price for a NIB '62 Pocket Police - It's a good price for an 1851 Navy too. Like anything else, you can get a bad one sometimes. Sig series overall are good guns.

Fingers, I just might go get it today. Problem is I'll have to give up one of my cartridge guns to keep peace with the wife. The only one I would consider is my Ruger single six, but that's my fun littler plinker gun.
I guess my weakness is for good, classic and collectible guns that I like to shoot as opposed to just LOOKING at

I think they are guns for buying and selling, not guns for shooting. As fast as I mend one part another one breaks. Now having the same experience with the 1860 .44 I got as well.

Avartar, I wouldn't hesitate for a second. I would buy that Navy Pocket in an instant. They're great revolvers and real sweet to carry out in the woods for varmints and stuff.
