I am trying to fix a Colt Woodsman for a friend.
Even after the slide is cocked back the trigger doesn't pull but an eighth of an inch. It doesn't seem to "dry fire."

What's going on?!

Is the magazine in? I know there is a interlock on some if not all the woodsman.

Additionally, for the Woodsman it is not a good idea to dry fire them. Use a snap cap or spent shell to dry fire.

Hope that helps.

Woodsman .22 semi-autos have a magazine safety. With the magazine out it will not fire. Insert the magazine install a snap cap or fired case. Now pull the trigger. Do not dry fire on an empty chamber.

I have a Colt Woodsman 2nd generation. He (in the above videos) discovered what I discovered years ago. Of all my handguns the Woodsman is about the most contrary piece to disassemble/reassemble of all of them. Still, even with the challenging operations, it is the most fun shooting gun I have. Worth all the effort.

I got it worked out! The videos I found but were of limited help. That gun just took some elbow grease. Thanks guys.
