Comrade Joe's remarks about rifle owner...

Biden's comment in that debate is all I will remember him for. After that debate, I couldn't fathom ever saying anything good about him, regardless of what policies of his that I agreed with.

It's one thing to disagree with the opposition, it's another thing to mock them, convince the public that they are a threat to your safety, and pretend to have a medical degree.

If Sarah Brady herself went out looking for a stereotypical redneck dumbass gun owner she couldn't have done a better job picking the person to ask that question.

Treo is 100% correct. My immediate thought when I saw that guy was, "oh ---". He was and is the epitome of every negative gun stereotype. When you ask a question of a political candidate, phrase it in a way that's not colloquial and for God's sake, don't dress like you just came in from mowing the lawn.

The monitors picked that guy for a reason, he was a perfect caricature, right along with the talking snowmen and other crap from that primary debate.

When civil rights are at stake, we need the best representatives we can get. I'm sure that guy is fun to have a BBQ with, but he's not the best representative of our RKBA.

After that debate, I couldn't fathom ever saying anything good about him, regardless of what policies of his that I agreed with.

My sentiments exactly.

Biden's a raving anti-freedom collectivist. No one in their right mind could possibly vote for him.
This is the problem that i have with this election. Mccain is just as anti-freedom. He fails at the civil rights the ACLU cares about. Obama fails at the rest of them.

Thanks Geoff really appreciate it.
I'm sorry that my post came out sounding like a personal jab, I really didn't mean it like that. I only wish that you wouldn't crucify the poor guy because of a poorly worded question he submitted on Youtube, of all places. Some folks get in way over their heads before they realize just what they've done. I've been guilty of exactly that on several occasions.

Biden is our "enemy of the state" , not the citizen who asked the question . Some of the comments made here are quite disturbing .

In reality, that gun owner is a much more subversive type of enemy because he masquerades as one of us.

You would not want to live in MY area since the majority of people are just simple gun owning folks . Tank tops, overalls, and other working man apparel . "Us" is not an exclusive group . Luckily , gun ownership is not based on income standards or wardrobe requirements. Yup , better throw this guy under the bus and call him a traitor for getting involved and exercising his rights . Who does he think he is anyway? He didn't get "our" approval first .

Then the comment about how he bought it under the ban, we know what he meant but how many antis/ neutrals did? How many anti/neutrals saw that clip and walked away thinking that guy had an illegal machine gun?
That was not a good thing.

Your right , we shouldn't show what a dismal failure the ban was . Better to have people think it worked perfectly . We wouldn't want to get people to talk about the ban and it's failure or the true differences between military and civilian arms.

That man is a poor representative of us in a field where image is everything.
When civil rights are at stake, we need the best representatives we can get. I'm sure that guy is fun to have a BBQ with, but he's not the best representative of our RKBA

Yup , a working class Joe shouldn't represent us . Matter of fact , we should never have allowed that working class Joe by the name of Heller to go before the court . We should have used someone more "elite" to represent us , like a lawyer or doctor . Because they would have been a better "representation" of the general public.

I'm glad this guy asked the question the way he did and was "under dressed' . It helped to show how bigoted and "elitist' Biden is against the common man .

It's sad that image is given more weight than substance and fact .

.

while some of you are quick to slam the gun owner , keep that in mind when you are talking at the gun show , super market , with your neighbors and friends or at work. The same people are listening as were to that broadcast , dont hold anyone to a higher standard than which you hold yourself.

whether it be a post on the high road or a conversation at the water cooler , hold yourself to the same standards you are holding him.

Biden... bad changes are coming if that cat gets in office.
Fortunate for us , when you put Biden and Obama together , you get BO , and that just shows how bad it stinks for us.

at least this person has a sports car that was designed to travel at such high speeds. Speeding is not necessarily irresponsible, just illegal. Big difference.
high performance car + low performance driver = accident waiting to happen....add a cell phone to the mix and a darwin award is probably already wrapped up and waiting in the glove box ;)

Could not watch the video over my 28.8K connection, just going by the comments above.

Could he have been a plant?

We wouldn't want to get people to talk about the ban and it's failure or the true differences between military and civilian arms.

Talking about the ban, as in discussing the fact that it was purely cosmetic and did nothing to change the function of the weapons, is a great way to educate neutrals. I think Oleg even did a poster about it. But our working class hero didn't do that he dropped a cryptic one liner that I would be willing to bet very few non gun people understood. That doesn't make him the enemy Joe Biden is the enemy. This guy is just the one who gave the enemy ammunition.

I'm surprised this thread is still open, but.....agree with General Geoff, ReadyOTR, etc. One thing's for sure. The NRA is going to be *ALL OVER* this ticket, like a hobo on a ham sandwich. Joe has made some classic remarks which will be repeated ad nauseum (thankfully), like "Banning guns is an idea whose time has come". Obama just handed the presidency to McCain, by ensuring that the Obama/Biden ticket will not carry Penn, OH, MI, FL, NV, and possibly even VA.

I'm not so sure she didn't.

Could he have been a plant?

230, that's kinda what I was thinking.

Maybe my paranoia is acting up again, but that seemed almost too caricatured to me.

Just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean nobodies out to get you.

JTW Jr. is right. Just because I am not an elected ambassador to a foreign country doesn't mean my actions when visiting there have no bearing on people's perceptions of my own. We should all be careful what we we say and how we say it. This cultural battle is being fought with words and perceptions not firearms.

How much do you want to bet that gun owner submitted that entry in jest. He probably thought "He he no way they'd put this up on a presidential debate I look like a crazy redneck"

Now when he actually watched the debate he probably ***** himself, and now feels like the laughing stock of the anti community.

Remeber this is all propeganda.
Move along citizen.

I think pbearperry is right

Some guy gets arrested for walking into a hotel that Pelosi was in with cased rifles and gets arrested for illegal carrying of firearms. This guy has a AR-15 and gets to show it on national TV in front of a VP candidate. I smell deliberate plant.

I don't think he is any more that laughing stock , than any of the " zombie " threads I read on various forums.

We have all been guilty of being him , in one way or the other , he just got national exposure while doing it.

My guess is the caller with his baby was a liberal plant to make gun owners look like total losers.
No I believe he was genuine, just not very media savvy.

Look, if he had used the word "Rights" or "Guns" instead of "Baby" or otherwise not looked like a loon his video would NOT have been used.

YouTube is run by Democrats, they aren't going to post questions from anyone that made the Democrats look bad ... making gun rights activists look nutty is just a bonus for them.

Regarding post #25, i was referring to the example of speeding, as being something illegal, not the guys comments to Sen. Biden.

Besides, this thread was pretty darn civil and had concerned itself with the gentlemans comments up until post #25 or so.

Unfortunately it devolved into political nonsense immediately after that, so there's not much point in posting further in a topic that will soon be closed.

There were a number of other 2nd Amendment people who posed questions without looking like morons. CNN was the organization that exercised control over picking which questions were used for the debate, YouTube simply hosted them.

That said, plainly this thread isn't generating any useful content.
