Conceal carry, model 617??

Looking at revolvers for concealed carry and I want something with an extra shot or two, I carry a glock 23 now and I was thinking of a taurus 617 for conceal carry next.

Any thoughts on EDC with this revolver, or another one that may be more easily found?

I still want a 357 mag, so I can shoot 38 spl and 38 +p. I would also still like 7 shots or more if possible but a 6 shot will subdue. But no 5 shot revolvers please.

Since 05/2003 I've carried a Taurus® Mdl 617SS2 2¼" barrel 7 shot 357 Magnum. I have approximately 11K rounds through it; half 38 Special and half 357 Magnum. This gun is like a Timex® watch in that it "takes a licking and keeps on ticking", or in my case shooting. I've shot about every kind of 38/357 ammo there is in it and it has a marked preference for 158gr ammo in either flavor. I carry it both IWB/OWB at 4 o'clock and it is comfortable all day. I highly recommend this gun.

What holster have you found to fit this revolver for both iwb and open carry? I'm looking for that too and cant seem to find one

View attachment 234173 My 617 is in the rotation. I carry it AIWB. It's loaded with SGD 135gr. 38+P. When my hands were younger they could handle 357. This gun has a excellent trigger making it a very accurate shooter.

I bet you are going to love your Taurus® Mdl 617SS2. FWIW, my circa 2003 617 is most accurate w/158gr 357 Magnum ammunition.
