I do not want to sound too harsh here, but you have sort of described a person who is a bit frazzeled and forgetfull. If she is constantly misplacing her purse and car keys better to let the ccw go, IMHO.

I disagree. My wife can also be a somewhat frazzled and forgetful person sometimes. She had similar concerns when we first started looking into getting our permits. She has been carrying now since last October when we got our permits, and has never once had a problem with misplacing her gun. As a matter of fact, she has no concerns about accidentally leaving the gun laying around at all anymore. The gravity of carrying a loaded firearm has helped her to be much more cognizant of its location. We purchased a small gun safe just for her. She has developed a daily routine, of immediately locking the gun in that safe when she wants to take it off.

One other thing that we are doing in regards to the children, is we are educating them per the NRA eddie eagle program. We also allow them to handle the guns, supervised by us, just about anytime they want. This helps to take the mystery/forbidden fruit angle out of the equation, I believe.

Oh, and thank you for the website Pax, my wife found it very informative. :)

No problem 1K :)

I think the best advice you have been given here, is to get her into the CCW class, where she will definitely learn the gravity of carrying a loaded firearm, and then let her decide if it is a responsibility that she wants to take on. If she makes the decision to carry, I think you both will be surprised at how responsible she will be with said firearm.

Oh, and the second best advice was to have her check out Pax's site. Tons of great information there :)

..and look into Thunderwear/Invisible Holster.

Kind of an appendix carry (you can adjust as you see fit) and it is independent of pants/skirt etc. That is to say, the weight of the pistol does not try to pull your pants down.

I use one in the summer with shorts or sweats, and if the shorts are loose, no problem.

I'd suggest just having her take the class for beginner gun safety, period. And you really need to way between need and practicality. If it's a must get a routine down before any major purchase.
I have a two year old running around my house, and fear the something. I personally carry it inside my waist band no matter what. Home or not.

PS If your that worried don't get a Glock. Or for that matter anything with out a safety. Revolvers included.

Good luck with that.
