Connecticut HB 6657 Update!
Contrary to what is being reported by some activist sources, after discussion at the Wednesday meeting of the Public Safety Committee, it appeared evident that HB 6657 failed to garner the support necessary to be reported to the House floor. The chairman "held" the bill, which included among its provisions one seeking to make criminals out of burglary victims who fail to report the theft of a firearm and one aimed at driving legal gun stores out of business, effectively killing it. While this is certainly good news, we cannot rest yet! All or some of the components of this proposal could be revived by a variety of means, including attaching them as an amendment to another bill.
