I've just taken the first step in a project that I have been thinking about for around 15 years. It will also be a while before the next step though, if I go through with it. Financial reasons mainly.
I have a S&W M625-3 .45 ACP 3" that I bought new sometime around 1993 or so. It's a great gun.
I've always thought it would be perfect if it was .45 Colt instead of .45 ACP. Well I was on Cylinder & Slide's website the other day, and what do I come accross in the closeout section? A 625 .45 Colt cylinder. I'm sure you see where I'm going. But I was thinking of going a bit further. Not just a cylinder swap, but having the Colt cylinder machined for ACP moonclips. That way I can still shoot ACP if I need/want. The only things I would lose would be the ability to shoot ACP without clips, which I have only done once, and that was just to verify that I could, and the abilty to shoot .45 AR. I shot two boxes of that when I first got the gun only because they were on closeout at the range I used back then.
Any thoughts on the project or a gunsmith to perform the job? Someone within a day's drive of Denver would be nice, but I can ship if the right smith isn't close enough.

I must be nuts. I already have a 4" M25-5 .45 Colt and a 4.2" Redhawk also in .45 Colt. Redhawk was the only gun I ever special ordered.

The cylinder arrived today. Pleasant surprise, the beadblast/satin finish matches my 625 perfectly! :D
C&S also included a Tootsie Pop in the package. Is this normal for them? Nice little perk.
