Can a 1911 style pistol in .38 super be converted to standard 9 MM ?
I realize that a new barrel and probably recoil springs would be needed. The cartridge dimensions seem very close except for length and rim diameter.
Thanks Melvin

It could be done pretty easily. Extractor MIGHT need slight adjustment since 9x19 doesn't have the rim of the Super. You'd probably want new mags for 9x19 since it has a considerably shorter overall length than .38 Super. Recoil spring could probalby stay the same since most .38 Super is only loaded to 9x19 +P levels anyway, you'd only maybe want a heavier spring for the .38 Super +P, which can get hotter than the 9x19 +P+.
