I just started hand-loading earlier this year and it's been going great. My primary hand-loading effort has been 260 Rem and I have about 350 Lapua 260 Rem brass (and about 100 260 RP brass).

I have ordered a McGowen 260 AI barrel that is going to be delivered in a few weeks and I already have the Redding 260 AI full length sizing and bullet seating dies.

I was wondering the best method for converting some of my Lapua 260 Rem brass into 260 AI brass?

Thanks.

Full length size and load it as normal. You must FL size as your current chamber may be larger than normal. All Ackley Improved chambers will accept the regular cartridge just fine and once it is fired in the AI chamber, it becomes fireformed AI brass. Simple.

^^^^ (what he said) No doubt about it.

In my AI's I usually just pull out my old Lyman manual and find the factory load duplicate they have listed and use it or something equivalent.

If it is chambered properly it should be a ever so slight snug fit when you chamber a factory or standard round.

The thing about the AI calibers is that they were dual purpose and in most cases the standard loads shoot just as well as the formed ones do.

Good luck with yours, I have been considering a 260 in something myself.
