I have been wanting a magazine fed bolt gun but due to lack of funds thats impossible. So I was thinking about changing my savage to take magazines. Just wondering if this is possible, if so what kind of mags would work best? Also anyone know where you can get a titanium firing pin for a savage?

Mags & Bolts

Saw a neat .308 Ruger 77 RSI International once that had been fabricated on to take M-14 mags...and they were removeable. The guy used mostly the 5 and 10-rounders, but it'd feed just fine with a 20-round box. Gotta be careful of overheating with even the 10-rounders, though.

What would be uber-neat would be a removeable box mag and a magazine cut-off so you could load single rounds and hold the magazine in reserve.
I'm sure it could be done...but at what cost is the unknown. Probably fairly high, I'd bet.

Parts

Now that I can't tell ya. I know that the catch was borrowed from an M1A, but the rest was pure fabrication. One of those deals where the fabricator had a knack for figuring things out, and likely did much of it on a trial-and-error basis until he got it to work. Doubtful that he could do it again without more of the same.
